Budva is located in the central part of the Montenegrin coast, the so-called Budeanekoy Coast. This is one of the oldest settlements in the Adriatic, it about 2500 years (the first settlement referred Burou Sophocles in the V century BC!). Throughout its history the city was destroyed several times by earthquakes and rebuilt from scratch each time, so samples of ancient architect itektury here and can be seen today zobilii.
Old town of Budva — a priceless monument of culture. At various times, Budva was under the domination of Byzantium, belonged to the Venetian Republic and Austria. At the end of the XV century, the city gained its complete architectural form and was fortified by walls. Walls are reinforced with several towers and fortress Citadel. The city and its surrounding area has plenty of Orthodox churches and monasteries Podostrog, Rezhevichi, Stanjevici, Gradiste. However, the Catholic community of Budva also has a long history in the city, there are still Catholic churches, among them the famous church of St. Ivan.
