The city is situated on the bank of Petrovac wide bay; Here, there are raised at home amphitheater towards the green mountains. It is located between Budva and Bar, 17 km from Budva.
Hotels in town are not many — mostly Petrovac consists of cottages and villas. The city is surrounded by olive groves and pine forests. It was founded in the late XVIII — early XIX century, on the site of the settlement Lastva. On a steep cliff at the edge of the city remained a small fragment of the old Venetian castle — Castello (XVI century): Here, there is a museum of Roman mosaics, where you can see samples of work relating to the 111 century BC. The name of this fortress was named earlier Petrovac Kastel Lastva.
In the middle of the bay are two small islands — the island of Holy Week and the island Katic. City beach in Petrovac is very beautiful, it has a length of 600 m. and covered by fine red pebbles. There are also beaches Lučice and Buljarica.
