Sveti Stefan

Sveti Stefan — a unique island — hotel, located 9 km. to the south-east of Budva and connected to the shore by a narrow isthmus.

In written documents St. Stephen first appears in 1442. The fortress was built earlier and named for the eponymous church, which was built along with the village. Legend has it that Pashtrovici (local tribe) settled on this island with captured Turk treasure in the XV century and built fortifications to defend against the Turks. Then this place was the usual Fishing village. In 1957, all the villagers were moved, and the island became a single city — the hotel, the most attractive and exclusive hotel complex th Balkans. Reconstruction is done so that the outside of the building is not subject to any change, but inside the rooms were richly decorated and converted into apartments.

The hotel consists of 80 single-story houses. Each has a telephone, satellite TV, mini-bar. All of them equipped to a high international standards. It offers — bank, post office, shopping center, male and female salons, hairdressers, art gallery, confectionery, garage, car rental, restaurant and cafe-bar on the terrace of the hotel, snack bars, a nightclub, piano bar, brasserie . Not far away is the famous national cuisine restaurant «Under the olive trees.»

In the town of carefully preserved medieval architecture. Small area, winding streets, churches and houses converted into hotels, retained their identity. In the city you can see the network of narrow streets, picturesque churches and elegant houses built in typical Mediterranean style. On the coast, on a small hill, surrounded by raging green, is a cozy villas and mini-hotels — all of this is also the resort of Sveti Stefan.
